Ever since Tim was nine or ten years old, he has been shooting a bow. As a kid, he was always intrigued by the flight of an arrow as it left the bow. Naturally, he progressed from a cheap, fiberglass recurve bow with wooden arrows to a little better, but still cheap, fiberglass recurve until he finally got his first compound bow, a Bear Silver Mag, when he was thirteen years old. Tim shot the strings off that thing for years until he upgraded to his first hunting bow, a Bear Black Mag. To Tim, it seemed like he hunted forever until he finally harvested his first deer with a bow at sixteen years old. Shortly after, he discovered 3D archery, and just like that, there was no stopping him. It did not take Tim very long to realize the equipment everyone was using (mainly carry over from “spot” shooting gear) was not up to the task of these new, super-fast, ultra-violent 3D bows.
When he was around twenty years old, Tim designed his first archery product; it was an overdraw that worked integrally to a major bow company's riser. A friend of Tim’s, a very well-known pro shooter, sent the product to the president of that archery company. He received a very nice, professionally written letter thanking him for his effort and that the company would pass on the product as they didn’t want to add it to their product line at that time. He was still very proud of that accomplishment. The following year “his” product was in that company’s catalog, which was an excruciating, well served first lesson into the business world that still serves Tim in business. That seems like a lifetime ago, but since then, he has worked closely with my friend and mentor, Steve Mack, to design a new target scope that would eventually become the Classic CS1 scope. I took a hiatus from the sport to pursue other business interests. In June of 2021, Steve approached Tim and asked him to purchase Classic Archery. The timing was perfect, and Tim jumped at the opportunity to get back into the archery industry. |
